PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia as a n ATPM of TVS Motor from India will became the youngest member of the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industries (AISI). This decision will be issued by AISI as an organization and will be effective on November 2009.
AISI Chairman Gunadi Sindhuwinata as Kompas.com quoted, said, "TVS membership process is still continuing. Basically, AISI is open to all manufacturers to participate. This is aimed to grow up the national motor vehicle industry, especially in motorcycle segment".
"Now we are preparing a letter for reviewing the field (plant) which owned by TVS. We expect, on November is ready to be join," Gunadi added.
Several conditions must be met to be a member of the AISI, among others, has production centers in the country, create jobs, provide revenue for the government of taxes, and contribute to develop the domestic motorcycle market.
Previously, two ATPM national motor show weakness in working in the domestic market. They are PT Kymco Lippo Motor Indonesia and Piaggio. ATPM Kymco motorcycle to stop its production activities as of November 2008. The Piaggio, which is still registered as a member of AISI, no longer has a factory in Indonesia. They rely on imports as a whole, or completely built up (CBU) from Italy.
So far the membership composition of AISI will be : Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Piaggio, Kanzen, and TVS.
